The LEARN Team was requested for a third day at Dorset Elementary for the grade 5’s to partake in our STEAM Challenge day. It was an exciting day with students building homopolar engines, 3D flowers, programming robots, designing pinwheels, art bots, and playing makey makey. Our future scientists, programmers and engineers have some “hard fun” with STEAM.
STEAM Challenge Day – Dorset Elementary – Day #3 April 29th
When the LEARN team came to Dorset, the experience was so enriching and fun we begged them to come back a second day. At six different stations students were given some basic information, an objective, various materials they might need and time to try different ways to accomplish the task. The students problem-solved, used their creativity, discovered, shared, learned, got frustrated, persisted, encouraged each other, discussed and had fun. The students and teachers got so much out of the LEARN visits.
