On March 23rd the LEARN team visited Hampstead Elementary, who are on the cusp of creating their very own makerspace. The most important step in creating a makerspace is to collectively figure out its’ purpose. The staff had many wonderful ideas of their vision and how they saw the space transforming.
Hampstead’s old space to be converted into a makerspace.
The staff’s brainstorm on what they thought the space should be about. Words like, tactile, multipurpose, creative, outside the box were some of the themes that emerged.
Our final activity is to get the teachers making, so we had them create a 3D object that represented how they saw their soon to be makerspace, and how they saw themselves in this space. Below are their creations.
