In this webinar, we bring three educators and teachers together to engage our participants in an enriching open discussion on Language Friendly Schools (LFS). The LFS program aims to unlock student potential by creating a multilingual environment in which the school adapts to students’ linguistic needs rather than the contrary. LFS now span across 11 countries, finding success in building learning communities that focus on multilingualism and inclusivity. Dr. Emmanuelle Le Pichon-Vorstman (University of Toronto), a co-founder of LFS, will speak about the overall values and mission of the program. Marjorie Hewitt will share her experience as the ESL program leader who brought LFS to Glendale High School (Ontario), offering strategies for effective implementation and community building. As an ESL teacher and pedagogical consultant in Montreal, Jacqueline Mallais will highlight the unique position of advocating for language rights and inclusivity in Quebec, discussing some of the challenges, but also potential gains. The webinar offers teachers and researchers the opportunity to engage in a meaningful conversation about multilingual practices.
