SPEAQ
SPEAQ HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF ENGLISH SECOND LANGUAGE
TEACHING SINCE 1972.
Our association’s mandate is to advance the teaching of English, as a second language in
Quebec. Its aim is to facilitate communication and bring together in association
those persons engaged or interested in the teaching of English as a second language in
Québec.
Its other aims and objectives are to conduct and to arrange for studies and research
with the aim of encouraging or evaluating developments in the teaching of English as a second language in Québec,
and to inform its members of such developments.
The association also publishes a member’s magazine 3-4 times per year, as well as other
material for professional improvement and promotional purposes in connection with the objectives above.
SPEAQ membership is open to any individual with an interest in the teaching of English,
as a second language. As a member of SPEAQ, you are part of a dynamic and generous
community. Membership also provides you access to our password-protected
website where you can consult and download teaching resources such as material for
your classroom, Learning and Evaluation Situations (LES), grammar activities, links to
other ESL sites, and more.
SPEAQ organizes events every year to support the ESL community, such as the Annual Convention, SPEAQ on Campus, and colloquiums for various special interest groups, including IntenSIG (Intensive English teachers), DEESL (Enriched English teachers), IncluSIG (diversity and inclusion) , SPEAQ IT! (integration of technologies), and RASCALS (CEGEP teachers).
Members are welcome to attend SPEAQ’s Annual General Meeting during its Annual Convention.
If you are an ESL teacher, SPEAQ is the number 1 organization for you!
