Community

Students engage in a Community Service Learning project, where they have an opportunity to take positive actions that foster a greater understanding and sense of belonging to their communities.

Timeline

The Take Action project must be completed by April 1st, 2023.
Registration deadline: October 7th

Get inspired

1. Becoming Authors Beurling Academy (LBPSB) students became authors whose stories promote understanding and acceptance.

2. Last Wave Radio Laval Senior Academy (SWLSB) created a student-run radio station that amplifies student (and teacher) voices.

Project Requirements

Teachers participate in a 1hr orientation session.
Teachers (or Community Development Agents) complete a short application form that:
- Describes the CSL project.
- Lists anticipated costs (schools can apply for up to 1.5K).
The CSL project must include:
- Student reflection and discussion about the theme of belonging.
- A service to the school or local community that has the potential to enhance students’ sense of belonging, inclusion and/or safety.
- A community partner (i.e., a local organization or community member that can enhance or inspire student learning).

*LEARN is developing a catalogue of project examples. We will reach out to select teachers (or Community Development Agents) to document their project.
