When traveling to Nunavik, expect to hear some music by Elisapie Issac playing on the local radio station. Elisapie grew up in Salluit. From an early age, she showed a talent and interest in music. She sings and writes songs in Inuttitut, English, and French.  When she was young, she performed with the Sugluk band, which won the 2005 Juno Award for Aboriginal Recording of the year with their album Taima. Elisapie has also been nominated for several awards as a solo artist including best original song (for Far Away in 2014), and the Juno Award for Indigenous Music Album of the Year, and the Polaris Music Prize (for The Ballad of the Runaway Girl in 2019). In addition to writing and singing, Elisapie has also worked as a broadcaster and documentary filmmaker.
